Our Story
Lonely City is an independent clothing label started by two lifelong friends from Adelaide, Australia.
Established in 2018, they wanted to create a brand that complimented their local band they played in. They wanted to bring the same passion of making music to creating clothing.
After a year or so of running the business, their lives became too busy to continue with Lonely City, which went into an indefinite hiatus.
At the start of 2021, one half of the original duo, Alexander, made a big life change – he quit his job.
He wanted something more than the usual 9-5, something that got the creative juices flowing. And that something was bringing back Lonely City.
With a couple more years of experience on his back, and a couple less hairs on his head, it felt right to give Lonely City the comeback tour it deserved.
As years come with experience, it also comes with change. The early days of the brand saw lots of new, exciting experiences, but also a huge learning curve.
With the reinvention of Lonely City in 2021, there were a few pieces that needed to be polished. Alexander spent the first few months of the year learning all that he could about the process of screen printing in order to Lonely City a new edge. It was all about finding those small details of a brand and bringing them to the forefront.
With all that said and done, here’s where Lonely City now stands. We print all our shirts in house with sustainable inks. We design everything from scratch. We use composable mailers and recyclable materials. We work with AS Colour, who create ethically minded and high quality apparel for us to print on. It’s everything a brand should be, and what we always wanted to be. And we’re just getting started.
